Video for "National Anthem (for Birds)"!
Current mood: accomplished
Starring Daisy-George Vivian in his first feature role, as the flag-bearing feral rescue-pigeon!
Enid Crow made the small bird flag, I made a lot of the art, and there's also a lot of art and imagery from ancient sources.
Enjoy!

3/30/08 - NOTE: This is a re-post from Justin Duerr's personal/art-oriented profile. I’m transmitting it from here also, just to give any Northern Liberties friends the information. You can read the first post there also.... my personal/art-based page is in the top friends here, it’s "Justin Pigeon-Crow". OK, so here’s the update on my situation.......
********************************************************************************

Hello all,
For any of you who didn’t know, I was randomly beaten on Wednesday, around 3:30 PM, walking to band practice from work.

Some kids I didn’t even see punched me in the face as I was crossing the street. There was no motivation at all other than to show off for their friends, or whatever. They didn’t take anything, and left me knocked out on the sidewalk. There was no warning, nothing. Just pure, random, pointless violence.

Coincidentally, it was just about an hour after this story of a similar incident (which tragically ended in the death of the assailed) took place on the other side of the city.

My jaw was broken in several places, and I was pretty dazed. I thought I was hit by a car when I first started to put things back together.
Thankfully, some people across the street called the ambulance and police.

Since then I have been going through a maddening maze of bureaucracy, trying to get my jaw fixed. The ER that initially treated me discharged me after taking X-rays, and didn’t give me any exit paperwork. I couldn’t find anywhere that would treat my broken jaw until Friday, due to my not being insured, and in spite of the fact that I was the victim of a violent crime.

Sometimes I would receive contradicting statements, such as an ER telling me they would admit me via phone, but then refusing to treat me upon my arrival. Welcome to the USA.

Finally, on Friday night, with the assistance of my friends/bandmates & brothers both metaphorically and literally in the band Northern Liberties, I made the trip to Thomas Jefferson U. Hosptial, in center city (same place the guy who was beaten on the 13th. St. platform was taken)..... they said that "of course" they would admit me.

Upon arriving, the receptionist was doubtful, and said I may not be able to receive emergency treatment without insurance. Then, someone else arrived, and said I could be seen.
I spent the night in the hospital, and got my brother to take care of Daisy (my pet pigeon) while I was there. I went into surgery the next morning.
I left the hospital around 1 Pm today.... I had to stay a little longer because they lost my bag of personal belonging, but I was glad they were willing to treat me.
I now have a wired shut & metal reinforced jaw, including screws.
I can speak, but I can only eat liquid foods. The wires will be on for 6 weeks. I don’t know if I can sing or not...... I have a follow up appointment on Tuesday, and will ask some questions.

All in all, I am glad to be alive, and the staggering number of positive and helpful messages I’ve received over the past few days have really lifted my spirits! THANK YOU, everyone who wrote with encouragement, advice, and kindness.
THANK YOU for all of your thoughts, prayers, meditations, magickal scryings, positive moves, etc. etc..... all appreciated, received, acknowledged, welcomed, and helpful in the utmost!

I will write more later.Goodnight, and remember:
PEACE ON THE STREETS!!!!
Your pal,
*Justin*

07/30/07 - ALL NEW MP3 Players have been added to the MP3 page, Featuring all our albums and some out of print stuff. The new CD GHOST MIND ELECTRICITY is almost ready to send to the printer, just a few more things to be done with the art, then off see goes.

07/26/07 - Played a great show with our friends Red Rocket and the Catalyst last night at Queen of Sheeba.... What a great great group of humans.

07/15/07 - Justin saids......... The song 'Children Of The Unholy Cross', recorded on 7/7/07 is a sample of the sound of the upcoming album (our third), to be titled 'Ghost Mind Electricity'. This is representative of the general sound of the album, but not the pinnacle moment, nor the single deepest chasm. It is one moment, a window into the the experience of the breath of the new body of recordings. It is available now for listening, and you can download the song for future study! Please bear in mind that the 'unholy cross' is not an upside-down cross (it is an inside-out cross), and Satanic connotations are no more present than when one speaks of the 'holy cross'. The unholy cross is the cross of the true wilderness, the wilderness beyond earthly experience. It may more appropriately be christened as an 'alien cross'. At any rate, enjoy the song! Goodnight, *Justin*

06/28/07 - Things are coming together nicely for the recording of our new Cd, we start it in just over a week. We are very excited to get back into the studio. We have lots of other plans and projects we are working on for the next few months.
- We have the new CD, which will be released with the help of a independent label or two, to be ready for our Sept West Coast Tour.
- We also have a new Split 7inch in the works, more details to follow as they become solid.
- We are going to finish the Northern Liberties Collaboration CD this winter..... This will be a very cool disc in the end, filled to brim with our friends and favs from the music nether world.

We played a great show on Friday June 22nd at the Oasis Arts Center. It was a great vibe.... Good bands surrounded by art in a beautiful North Philly Building. Justin and I donated artwork for a raffle to benefit the center. All the bands kicked out great high energy sets.... Lars Din from Florida started the night with some political folk-punk which got a lot of hand clapping and foots a-tappin'. Followed by Lesser Know Neutrinos, they just floored me.... I'm madly in love with the synthesizer. Then we NL's took to making the weird rock we love.... We played mostly new stuff, it's all we've been doing on account of practicing for this new recording. The night was epically closed by the rumbling sounds of Serpent Throne.... I've been rocking their CD for a few weeks, it's a master piece of stoner rock fury.

Check out these photos by Alane - from our June 10th show at the Crain Arts Building's ART FOR THE CASH POOR

06/19/07 - "Man you gonna stop, there's like 10 cops out side" That was the end of the our Friday June 15th set at Be Happy House... That might be the last show they ever have. They were already in the process of moving out by July 1st and had a month of crazy shows planned. This night started off about the way you would expect a "Eviction Party" to get swinging, Tap the keg and tap the madness. It had all the signs of a weird night... super young drunk kids, super old drunk guys, crustys, dogs, bands and Joe Buck's Winnabego parked out front. Things progressed like a finely made watch, meticulous and accurate. The Nl's mixed in up though the peoples with our usual good time, I don't think any one of us drank at all... at this point in my life these things are better soaked in sober.... A crusty walks up to me and asked me to punch him in the face, I decline his offer but make suggestions of people in the room that might take him up on it. The night took on a darker and darker vibe as the evening preceded. All the bands were solid, but it seemed they were more of a sideline to the party. I watched and enjoyed them all. The Company Corvette kicked it out, Uke Box revved up the house with songs of trains and booze, Joe Buck Yourself played a great set of creepy one man band stuff.... He had a great presence, part due to his lone red light that faced up to him, and part just because of his age and worn-in appearance... He wasn't super old just an old soul for sure. In the end we got to play four songs before the show was shut down by cops that we never even saw. It is apparent that the neighbors will tolerate loud music and drunk kids, but the seemed to draw the line at crustys throwing Be Happy House's couch into their yard, Go figure. So we packed us to a 5 minute cycle of different kids running into the basement telling us that we needed to get out quick because the cops were getting crazy out side. "The cops are beating some kids up"yelled one person to us. If the cops did anything at all, and even how many of them showed up is a mystery to us, We packed up with in 15 minutes of being shut down and by the time we made it to the street it was a ghost town. Just three of the Be Happy House folks getting a few of their things loaded into a truck. But in the party's defense, there was no furniture at all in the houses first floor when the night ended. Mission Accomplished

06/15/07 - We have been on a world wind.... On Saturday June 9th we were blessed to participate in the wedding of two of our favorite people. Debbie dressed as Godzilla and James dressed as a Robot shared a special even with us all. Northern Liberties and Red Devil played a rare after party at Philadelphia's legendary Fake Haus. It was awesome, We'll have some clips from our set filmed by our friend Val on an upcoming DVD of NL live footage.
The very next after noon we played the Art for the Cash Poor event @ the Crain Art Space.... It was beautiful, playing the outside courtyard surrounded by fantastic art. We were joined on this date by old friends Abuki from Baltimore, Apogee, and Lismore. We also recede our new T-shirts, as well as got a new van in order to make the cross country tour this Sept. It's gonna be fun.

Check out these cell phone photos by Vinnie of Saudi Arabia / Shorty Boy Boy from my Birthday Party at the Trocadero Balcony.

05/18/07 - Thanks to all our friends at the Tritone for the great time on South Street. Humanasaur was killer with some new songs that rocked me hard.... and Both Darsombra and Destructo Swarmbots were pedal-riffic.... Brian gets better every time I see him, and every time I see him I think this can't get any better. Kit took a few photos on his cell phone... Check um out.

05/07/07 - Thanks to all our friends in Fleetwood Pa for the great time on Saturday night. I knew it was going to be a good time when the venue has goats.... Yep a huge fenced in area full of fun bearded goats. We watched them of a while, they played a solid set.

05/04/07 - It's always a good time to get in the van and hit the road..... We happily enjoyed a week end of travel. Starting Friday night at Wilmington DE's MOJO 13, we shared the night with our dear friends the CATALYST from Richmond.... They just plain rock, I shot some great video of there set, I'll put it on the youtube stack and hope to get to it soon. Both Ex Libres and Count Von Count put on solid sets as well.... Count Von Count was CRUSHING. We spend the rest of the night talking to the peep in Delaware, then hit the road to VA.
- A seven hour ride to Blacksburg VA is no joke, but it is funny. We play name the tune with Justin's mix cds and talk about aliens, time travel and pre-history. Finding the finer points of dinosaurs and the Butthole Surfers is a easy thing for the NL's. We make good time and roll in the Blacksburg with time to walk around and search the town. We ran into our friend Whitney on the street... She showed us around for a bit then we headed to the venue. The venue is a house in a long row of frat houses and frat-style houses... all college all the way. At the house we meet up with a few other friends from previous trips to the area. I talk for a while about video stuff with Chris, how had filmed us playing at the 2005 VA NOISE FEST. From this point on if way a fucking party..... More and more bands and people showed up..... By the end of it all there was 7 bands from 10pm to 3am, they kicked the keg EASY in two hours.... It was a fun show, in Blacksburg the like to party. All said and don't it was 3:30 when we rolled out to head back to Philly for our Sunday night show.
- The ride was made of crazy and coffee.... After the 12 hour mark of driving you just start to loose your grasp on the world. At 7:30 am I had had enough, the cars in the roadway a head of me had started to morph into demons and monsters. So I pulled over to let Marc take the wheel. By a stroke of NL's weirdo good fortune, we pulled right into a Sunday morning flea market. Sleep deprived and on the edge of hallucination we hit the isles to make a few flea market finds. Then back into the van to finish the trip with the musical power of PONY PANTS and DIO, maybe the beat driving music of all time. At about 10 am we pulled into Philly, just to sleep for a few hours in our own beds... well Marc and I slept. Justin on the other hand did what he does... Raced a "Art Cart" in the shape of a giant cat head through Washington Square Park at noon.... Yep that's for real.
- At 8pm we meet at Upstairs at Sal's, it was my first time there. Kinda what you'd expect of the second floor at a bar. They mostly do dance music, but the helped the Danger Danger folks rebook the night after that house had to chill out to beat the heat. The night was strong... Red Rocket was on fire, they are one of my new favorites in the philly scene, good people making great music. Also on the bill was Mystery of Two from Cleveland OH, Fun guys that played a soulful mix of MC5 style garage rock and dischord style indie, I liked it. They have a bitching bass player, the star of the show. Last but not least was Thinking Machines, back from a year hiatus, and better than ever.
GOOD, GOOD, GOOD. That was the weekend.

04/15/07 - What a life..... This world is filled with some very SOLID DUDES and LADIES.... and alot of them are in Richmond Virginia. This Friday night we played at 9N. Blvd to a house of dear friends. We were very happy to be joined by our friends RED ROCKET from Philly. They played a wonderful set, filled to brim with technical grooves, danceable and smart all at the same time. THANKS TO 9NORTH BLVD. for all the good times. We will surely miss you.

04/12/07 - Last night we played POPPED FEST..... it was great night..... in a nutshell. BAD NEWS BATS = AWESOME, MTN. HIGH = AWESOME with 3 drummers, LOW BUDGETS = AWESOME with a 40 and a mohawk, NOTEKILLERS = AWESOME with an Ebow. Check out the City Papers blog... Thanks to POPPED for all your efforts. 03/26/07 - Thanks to Algebra of Need and Shorty Boy-Boy for the good time at the Fire on Friday. We got big VIP treatment with the use of the club's "Greenroom", So we took the opportunity to test our knowledge of Backstreet Boys trivia thanks to the helpful VIP literature at the venue. All the bands played solid sets.... We have played with both bands a few times before, so I already knew I liked them. A good time was had by all.

03/18/07 - St. Patrick's day in the snow.... It was a good time. Last night we played at 409 Haus in merry West Philadelphia, It was a solid bill, Our rock and roll was perfect.... Our friends Bugs and Rats traded Boston for Philly for the weekend and visited us to share the night. Peter the Piano Eater started the night with is one man show, Peter also played in the band Peter and Craig, with Craig of Towers.Peter crafted a fine set of solo songs using a guitar, organ and his voice. Second in the night was Northern Liberties equipped with our new Fog Machine. We played an high energy set, danced with Omar, and warmed the room for Bugs and Rats. Our Boston friends rocked the room, causing the northern liberties and friends to dance dance dance..... Right in to the Low Budgets set. I just love the Low Budgets.... just plain good, I tell ya. They played all the hits and ended their set with smashing the drumset. Magnificent. We loaded out and headed bay to my crib with them Bugs and Rats in tow. We drank some beers ate some food and headed to sleep. I woke them Bug and rats early with a special Birthday breakfast, Happy Birthday Radik.

03/15/07 - Thanks to Scottie Bones ( http://www.myspace.com/scottdarrach ) for these great photos of out set at Clap It Off 3/3/07.

Also i've added a link to KC's Photos of our set at Eris Temple on 2/23/07

03/09/07 - It's been a good month...... Starting with our Feb. 17th Show @ Danger Danger House..... Damn those folks know how to do it right. Two days and 20 bands, yep and they all rocked, and the shows went smooth, with quick transitions between bands. One band playing in the basement he one upstairs, back and forth. Thanks to Danger Danger for keeping it real. Next, Feb. 23 @ Temple Eris, The first show at Radio Eris' new venue Temple Eris, this night was a tribute to Robert Anton Wilson - Author and Occultist who died this year. Click to see KC's photos of Northern Liberties' set. Its been a busy month..... Then we found time to record a collaboration song with Enid Crow on Feb. 25th. Our Feb. 28th show at the M-Room was canceled, but we don't have any idea why......But who cares. We played with our bi-coastal friends Shellshag on March 1st at Clap it Off House, the fantastic home of Pony Pants.... There Badmaster Showcase the night before was Excellent. Clap it Off was a great time.... awesome time..... fantastic time..... wonderfulness to the max. We love Shellshag, their set was tight... their tour is on, Check them out. Yep still more. March 7th saw another collaboration recording with B. Nothing, he's a musical mastermind, and a great man. Check them all out with our new webpage for this Collaboration Project

01/14/07 - This will be our first update of 2007.... It has been a great year for the Northern Liberties so far.
... On Friday January 5th we played a GREAT show at West Phillys Millcreek Tavern. The night started off with Yanni of Stinking Lizaveta playing a Casio Synth Guitar, it was an 80's oddity... part guitar, part keyboard, all weird. He rocked it out with the aid of a bunch of effects pedals, the synths builtin drums, and a friend on bass. It was a great one off set. Up second was Shorty Boy Boy, a five piece made up of three young folks with two of their fathers. They were good... sorta of like the rock stuff from Ween. Third we had BIG SHAVE, they had a lot of energy....kinda like an old video of the Jam. Their style was a late 60's rock, upbeat and catchy. The NLs ended up playing last, The Bad News Bats were set to close show but had to cancel. So we played a good set of newer stuff, and some old stuff that our friends shouted out.KC took some great Photos of out set.We had a good time... telling jokes to each other and laughing that I forgot how to play a song. Thanks to all our friends for coming out to the show, Thanks to Mandy Katz for the awesome Eye Button.
... On Thursday January 11th we did the first recording for our Collaborations Album, The Ideas been in the back of the collective NL hive mind for a while... So hear's the plan. Northern Liberties teams up with our favorite musicians to write and record a song. The goal is to compile 15 or so into a Northern Liberties CD. The first person to share this project with us is our friend CLARK ROTH(of Kandy Whales). He brought a great song to us with most of his ideas worked out, we spent the evening making a great song. I hope to start a new page on the website to keep track of the progress... with Audio and Photos from Each session.
... On Friday January 12th we once again joined our friends at West Phillys Rotunda. It's a great old Church owned buy UofPenn, which they use as a free community venue. All shows are allages and FREE. The show started strong with BURR...this night special featuring our own Justin Duerr on Second drum.... it was a lush and artistic, space rock exploration. Second it was the NLs, I felt we kicked ass... It was great time in a BIG room.... the back wall behind the bands is about 40 feet wide and 20 feet tail, they had three projectors showing video madness as all the bands played.... that was superb. Third was BUNNYDRUMS.... even better than before. With the addition of Matt on synths they blew us away... "Not til know did I understand". Last but never least was the NOTEKILLERS ..... a fantastic experimental jazz three piece straight from 1977.... no for real from 1977. They are an all Original lineup, and a fun and mindmelting end to another great show.... I bought the Notekiller T-shirt and all Three CDs. I'd go see them again, and again. Thanks - K

12/22/06 - We are Booked to record our NEW CD July 7,8,9,14,15 2007 @ Arlington VA's Inner Ear Studio, under the watchful eyes and ears of Don Zientara. This to be our most amazing release to date. We are in the process of booking our FULL US tour for the Tail end of Sept 2007.

12/13/06 - Thanks for the great week..... We played our first show @ Wilmington Delaware's MOJO 13. the Night started strong with BIRDS OF MAYA, they played kinda a jammed out Motorhead sound, Five Minute Plus songs that rocked. Then next was THE SHIPS, this was our second show with them. They are mix of indie, punk, and classic style rock. We got to see a few old friends, like MO RUSS ... Vote for him in 2008. The Mojo 13 is going straight to the top I Tell ya, Great sound, Good locals, a nice soundman. Also as we loaded in early,we got to see the very end of the after noon School of Rock show, it's cool to see the kids rocking BLACK SABBATH.
Then we continued on to RICHMOND..... RICHMOND is our favorite place to play. The vibe is always good, and our friends from the BLVD house always make it a great time. We roll in early and catch Jamie... We all catch up on the goings on. He's always been a great friend to the Northern Liberties, We played with his old band RESCUE THE PAST in 2001 at a church in Delaware, and ever since we've been hooked. He's a great guy always making good music with good people, I've liked every band and every person I've met through him..... We kicked it a the House for a bit then went in search of Coffee. Kyle took us to the Deli that the whole house works at, We got coffee some drinks, then some food, more drinks, Then thanks all the folks for there kindness and head back to load in. Jamie and Michael start off the night with a tripped out DELAY PEDAL jam. It rocked. Then on to Boyfriends and Girlfriends, they had a replacement singer, and were missing their second Guitarist and Bass player..... But the Guitar and Drums they had rocked like the best Melvins set. Third we had Holidays, kinda a mix of the Murder Junkies and the Jam... Straight up rock with a sleazie edge. Our set was great Joey set up a green screen to film our set. With our video plus his, he's going to edit a weirdo music video, we'll keep you posted.

11/26/06 - We played two show of late. The first at West Philly's VeggiePlex... I wet good time was had by all, The show ran very late, and the soggy load out was less than awesome, But or set was good and we made a few new friends in the band Pyramids. Then on Tuesday Nov 21st we played the NYC at Sin-e..... It was our best NYC show ever, By a long way. WE had no traffic on the way up, Mapquest got us easily to the door, We parked the rock and roll van right out front, The venue is run by and old philly friend we hadn't seen in years, All the bands were good, The sound was good, Enid Crow played 4 songs with us..... It was great!! Our friends No Pasaran! set up the show, Thanks to them.

11/09/06 - We are in the beginning stages of planning a FULL US TOUR FOR 2007.... It will be a straight shot through the lower east coast and south, Then up through CA, OR, and WA. We are hopping to have a new FULL LENGTH CD for Summer 0f 2007.

11/07/06 - We've been working on new songs for the next cd and playing some awesome shows. On HALLOWEEN we played with Barking Spiders and the Ships in West Philadelphia. It was a great show, Marc dresses as a Wizard, Girls wore a Purple Dress, and I was a Shark. It was a cool night. 10/20/06 - Alot has happened since my last news update... I've got to play a bit of catch-up there. So here we go. Last month we played West Phillys Clark Park Music Festival..... It rocked us. We got to hang out all day with our friends, watch some awesome bands. It was a good time. Then on Sept 30th we played the Northstar as the opener for Bunnydrums. They are freshly reformed... This was their second show since 1986. So it was a special treat to be part of it. Also on the bill was King of Siam, a great group of guys... high school friends still making music together over 20 years later, Always a good time. Then on FRIDAY the 13th we played at the Be Happy House.... Which is my current favorite basement to play. We played with A ROMAN HOLIDAY from Richmond VA, our friend Jamie is now playing drums with them... It was great to see Jamie and Michael from the Catalyst, Richmond Rocks, Every one from Richmond is always a solid dude.... We hope to make it back to the RVA very soon.

08/25/06 - 35 New Photos are up.... We played a great show at FDR park last night. It was a great time in the shadow of I95, in the center of the free skatepark, just a mile from the Philadelphia Experiment Site, while freight trains pass... if that not a fitting backdrop to a show, I don't know what is.

07/15/06 - The show last night at the Battle Axe, was awesome. A great house full of great people, watching great bands. It was an all together good time. Check out all the bands we played with... Serpent Throne, The Company Corvette, and Panty Shanty. Thanks to everyone at the house for putting on a great show.

07/07/06 - New Review Posted. We have been just working on tour stuff for a few weeks. New Buttons, T-shirts, Sampler Cd's, Justin Solo CD, and Booking Boooking. Hope to you all at the shows.

06/24/06 - New tour dates have been added to the list of Worldeater shows. We still are in need of help booking the two dates.... Thrusday July 27th and Friday July 28th. They just need to be between Nashvile TN and Pittsburg Pa.

06/14/06 - DANGER DANGER..... House that is. A great time was had in West Philly this Night. It was my first time at the Danger Danger, A great house just south of Baltimore Ave in Wild West philly. After a quick Down pour, We load in. The house is full of super nice folks... and lots of great art... Miniature art for the most part. Check out the Paintings of Russel Brodie while taking in the next house show... They Rocked me. The show started of with BAD NEWS BATS. A band that I'll always seen on fliers but this was my first time seeing live. They rock me.... Kinda Runnaways-ish all girl punk greatness. Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, and Drumset.... They had a great timing to them.. Justin and I where trying to put our fingers on it. I think he got it best... Sorta like they all learned to play souly from them selfs, Making a good rhythmic feel that not like anyone else. The nl's loved it. Then it was onto The VIBRATION from New York, The show was booked around their tour. They are a Blondie era Style rock 4 piece of Vocal, Guitar, Bass and Drumset. They rock us... Then back Home for them. It was their last show of tour. Then up next is DACTYL from Baltimore. They raise the Volume a bit to 11, and play an aggressive blend of Unsane and Neurosis.. In a good way, They are releasing there new CD on Chris X's Reptilian Records. Then it time for us, But first it our SPECIAL VIVAIN GIRLS mini set with ENID CROW. This was a very anticipated event, With folks coming from far and wide to witness it. We play Two Songs to the great praise of the crowd, Then we move on to our own Set. We play great with Marc ending up steaming from the heat... No Literally Steaming. This house has a great vibe. Folks just kicking it for funs sake. Then to finish out the night we hand the floor and my pedal board over to YELLS AT EELS from Texas. They are a a Four piece Jazz-Rock group of Trumpet, Saxophone, Upright Bass and Drumset. They kicked it out hard. They made the night their own.... After driving from Maine that day, they Made the room Move. Hands Down a Great Show.

06/07/06 - Last night we played at Philadelphia's Khyber Pass, our hometown long running rock club. We were part for a 5 band bill, booked as the follow up show to the 06/06/06 show in Boston the night before. So we kicked off the night with a great set complete with all our normal madness... Like "Madly Out of Tune", "Woops I dropped the Pick", "My Finger's Bleeding" and my Favorite "The Mic flew of the Cord, Where did it Go?" So from the NL stand point it was great. We played well, Sound was good, I don't think the Khyber's Sound Guy likes me... But he's got a hard Job, Dealing with all these bands... So I still like him, We'll win him over. Then next was our friends Bugs and rats from Boston, They Kicked it out with a fury, Like they always do, Blowing me away again and again. Then up next is Bichslicer... They are in the middle of there first tour and the are tight from playing night after night. They played the best Trash metal with a great sense of Humor.... There drummer Shane wore a Devil mask, and there Bass player wore no pants just a blood butches smock, and spit Gene Simmons blood the whole time.... The Guitar player Gary(the other half of Worldeater Records) was a madman as always, Playing the most complex metal riffs like it's nothing while going completely out of his mind in a metal head-banging episode... not hair dancing mind you, For real aggressive.... Give your self wipe-lash and a concussion Head Banging. Now the evening slows way down, WAY DOWN, Down More...... Yep to STOPPED., The other two bands, One of which is on our record label, Don't show up. So the show is done at 11:30, Bummer... as we'd say in 1985. But back to the Worldeater Warehouse with all the bands that showed we go, with most of the folks from the show as well. We make food for the group and shoot the shit for a bit. The night slows down and we all hit the hay... And in the Morning we see the Bugs and Rats off on there way to North Carolina for their next show.

05/31/06 - On Sunday night we played in Boston with our friends Stinking Lizaveta from Philly and It will end in Pure Horror. It was a long drive for one show, But we got to chill with our Boy Shawny Brando from Boston's Bugs and Rats. We played a good set with only one broken string. Stinking Lizaveta as playing the last show of a 28 day tour of the whole us. Hats off to them. They are our heros.... Thats the greatest band in Philadelphia. I have seen them now for over 10years and they still rock me every time. LBJ is my favorite SL song. Check them out if you don't already know them, Nice people, Great Music.

05/27/06 - Read Justin's interview about the Toynbee Idea.

05/26/06 - Still trying to full our tour out. We have three days with are slow... But we feel good that we'll find some rocking shows.

05/20/06 - Last night we played an incredible show. First off was the band THE DEATH SET, Originally from the Gold Coast area of Australia.... But having Moved to Brooklyn, then to Baltimore. A two Man two Guitar and an Ipod band of spastic dance-along fun.... kinda like playing a Prince record on the wrong...faster speed, taking all the mattresses in the house, to line the floor of one room..... Then Rocking out the funest, fastest punk rock good time you could with your best friend ever. And doing all this in the most honest way... like no one would ever know how many times you Pete Townsend jumped off the couch.A great time was had. It was GOOD. I listened to there cd about 50 times today.... But It's easy to do while clocking in at under 15mins. Then on to ECSTATIC SUNSHINE another Two piece of only Guitars.... Amazing Guitars. Great mood setting instrumental tunes full of masterful leads contrasted by ultra rhythmic crazyness. Another great times was had. If your counting that two for two. Then onto DEMIOURGOS a straight up rock three piece. They played excellent super scale songs... By Super Scale I mean... Massively complex notey scale-like riffs with enough repetition to keep me into it and enough math-rock to keep me guessing. At times the bass and guitar played flawlessly together, while to create a great dynamic the Bass would from time to time drop back to an AC/DC style matching of the Bass-Drum. It was also Good. So far it's three for three. Then we play... I feel we played well and kept the night on the GOOD track. We busted out some weird ones from the vault of NL mind land..... Since we don't, have never... cept for the two acoustic shows, play with a set list. We sometimes blind side each other with the songs we start... I did so with Joy Division's "Love will tear us Apart" which we hadn't played in a year or so. Thanks to our new friends at the "Clap it off House" For having us stir up the dust in there basement for the night.

05/18/06 - I Printed the last of the Bugs and Rats / Northern Liberties 7inch covers today. So that's it 300 copies. 150 on Blue Vinyl with matching Blue Covers, 150 on Yellow Vinyl with matching Yellow covers. The first batch of 50 per color has all the black printed with Latex House paint... I forgot to get the black ink. Watch out of a bunch of weird color variations in the covers.... Like different paper colors, and two tone backgrounds, Ect. It was my first time printing anything in two colors... It's hard to do well. I figured it out better than I expected, and for all my moaning about the three days of printing and hand folding and cutting each one... In the end I believe it's a good Record, and worth the time. THANKS AGAIN TO MANDY KATZ for the great cover art, and MO for the fantastic label art.

05/14/06 -I finished The second Batch of Bugs and Rats/ Northern Liberties Split 7inch Covers. All of the first 60 Nls had the outlines printed with Black Latex House Paint... Which worked Better than I expected, I had forgotten to get black on my first trip to the supply store. And now the Second Batch , the out line is printed in Navy Blue..... The bulk of both batches have baby blue back round, But keep your eyes pealed there are lots of variations... Like swirled blue and red, solid purple, and purple swirled with white... as well as some different paper colors tossed in alone the way.

05/06/06 - Thanks from the bottom of our NL heart to Peter, Craig, and the whole Be Happy House Crue for the great rock and roll good time.... Sorry again for breaking a few mics/cords. 4/14/06 - Richmond is a cool town... Great Venues, Great Bands, Great People....... After a 7 and a half hour drive, 3 hours just sitting in DC beltway nether nether land, We arrive at the Nanci Raygun, an awesome allages/21+ Venue. Staffed by lots of nice folks. Our old Friend Bucky Lee Lewis of Valiant Death Records came out from Hampton with a small group of friends from that side of VA. We played a short set to make way for Witchhunt, who also made the drive from Philadelphia... It had been a long time since I saw them last, I think since Syzslak's show with them at the Catbox in 2002..... I liked their new drummer alot. We had to leave halfway through their set to go PLAY A SECOND SHOW at 9North Blvd. house. This "House of Solid Dudes" as they call it, proved to be just that. Home of most or all of the Members of the Catalyst, it was a basement show dream. It was on of the biggest houses I've ever seen, Having used to be a Frat House it had all the signs of a years of partying... We get there in time to catch Lex Vegas a great Metal band in the vein of the Relapse stuff, they rocked. Then after them was the MisLed, a four piece punk outfit which we shared time with on the Falcom Records Global Punk Compilation. Then it was time for us to play our second set in 4 hours.... It felt good, we played a completely different set from both the Nanci Raygun and Millcreek, Since Jamie had seen us at all three, we repeated only two songs in 3 shows, and those were requests. So thanks to Jamie and The Catalyst for booking the two shows in one night, Thanks to all of Richmond for making us feel at home. We are definitely coming back.... You rocked us.
